Before diving into the discussion “How To Remove Wheel Locks Without Key?” I want to share an incredible experience with you.

Last Sunday I was in a hurry and went to the market for some important stuff to buy. As it was for only 10 minutes, I left the car parked in the street. Meanwhile, when I was coming back, I saw a man trying to remove the wheels from my car! I started shouting loud, and so he fled away.

I would say I was fortunate that day. However, I would get into trouble as I had to catch the critical meeting on that day. Hence, I recommend that you have the best wheel lock and the best steering wheel lock in the car. These are easy to use to prevent your vehicle from being stolen.

When you’re installing the best locking lug nuts, you’ll be given the lock key. But we lose access to things very quickly. What’ll you do if the key is lost? Here is the process you can follow to obliterate the lock without a permit.

Materials required

  • Wheel lock kit for the removal
  • Lug nut wrench
  • Breaker Bar
  • Screwdriver or punch
  • Rubber mallet /hammer

Time Required

It’ll take 3 to 5 minutes per wheel. So I think it’s not a long time.

How To Remove Wheel Locks Without Key?

Step 1: Find out the critical first

Before attacking the lock of your car, look for the key. Did you rummage through an old toolbox or storage cubbies? Ensure that you don’t have access, and you don’t have any option but to use the lock removal tool for locking off.

Step 2: Engage the car in park

Apply the parking brake and put your car in the park. Ensure that there is no rolling motion while loosening the lock.

Step 3: Look for the wheel lock removal tool

Check whether the tool fits appropriately on the overtop of the lock that you want to remove. The inside teeth of the socket should bite into the safety properly and ensure that it is snugged correctly.

Step 4: Hit with the hammer or mallet

Hit the end of the removal tool firmly with the help of a hammer or rubber mallet. When you’re running the removal tool, the teeth are digging accurately into the lock.

Step 5: Loosen the lock of the wheel

Use the lug nut wrench and make the lock lose by turning the removal tool anticlockwise. It would help if you had a strenuous effort to turn the device anticlockwise. So have some patience and try harder to loosen the lock.

Step 6: Next, turn the tool by hand and finish locking off

With a hard try for a few times when the lock gets loose, you can turn it now with your hand. You don’t need a lug nut wrench anymore. Finally, you can bring the lockout of the wheel. But the lock will be stuck in the lock removal tool.

Step 7: Bring the lockout of the tool

Now use a screwdriver or punch through the hole in the lock removal tool and hit it with the hammer or a rubber mallet against the lock. After a few hits, the damaged lock will pop out from the device.

Besides, you can wriggle the lockout of it with the breaker bar what is probably the best way to loosen the bolt from the tool.

Note: Don’t hit very hard so that the lock gets damaged.

Step 8: Repeat the process for the other locks

After finishing the lock-off, go for the remaining kinks and follow the same process as discussed earlier.

Extra Tips:

Look for the serial no. of your best locking lug nuts

You lost the key, check the slip or the receipt. You might get an option there to get new access. Call the manufacturer and order a new key to avoid hammering your car.

Spray penetrating oil for removing rust

You can use oil like – PB Blaster or a similar type of penetrating oil at the place where the lock meets the wheel. It will help to avoid rust formation on the wave. But be careful so that it doesn’t destroy your wheel paint.

Avoid torque wrench

You can use a torque wrench as a breaker bar. But in this case, don’t use the torque wrench. It’s the same instrument. So if you use it for any blunt instrument, it’ll throw off the calibration and, thus, result in inaccuracy.

Bottom line

Finally, when you’re installing the new set of the best wheel locks, store the key in the safest place like the center console or glove box, etc., making your car last longer will help you save your vehicle from unnecessary attacks!
